Abducted infant found in hospital

SAHIWAL, March 21: Police on Wednesday recovered the infant kidnapped from the children ward of the DHQ hospital on Tuesday, but failed to nab the abductor. Three-month-old Tayyab had been admitted to the hospital since March 17. On Tuesday, a girl dressed in nurses’ uniform came to Tayyeb’s mother Azra and told her that the ward in charge had asked her to bring the child for recording his weight etc.

The mother handed over the infant to the uniformed girl, who immediately disappeared along with the baby.

On noticing the absence of the baby for a long time, the mother raised an alarm. Police was soon called and the hospital premises was cordoned off.

The baby was later found lying at the backside of the hospital’s chest ward where he had probably been thrown by the abductor when she noticed the security measures taken by the administration. Women police are looking for the accused. — Correspondent
