MITHI, March 21: Minister of state and Chairman National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Dr Naseem Ashraf, has said that the Commission is committed to promote female literacy through volunteerism for development of country.
Talking to journalists during his visit at Mithi on Tuesday, Dr Naseem Ashraf, said that NCHD has established 22,000 literacy centres in 76 districts in the country.
So far 50,000 learners have completed their education from these centres, while 86 per cent women graduates have improved gender imbalance.“Ensuring quality education through teachers training, the NCHD has also trained 19,000 teachers to increase enrolment and prevent drop out. It is for the first time that the government has substantially increased the budget for education in financial year 2006-07”, he added.
Dr Naseem Ashraf said NCHD’s education programme goal was to achieve 86 per cent literacy rate by 2015.
