KARACHI: Naval chief stresses excellence in technology


KARACHI, March 21: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir has emphasised the need for sustenance of strong, vibrant and modern educational institutions for inculcating the requisite skills in order to meet the multidimensional challenges in today’s world of tough competition.

Addressing the 18th convocation of the Pakistan Navy Engineering College here on Wednesday, he said it was necessary in view of the ever-increasing pace of innovative e-technologies that had put responsibilities to achieve proficiency in technical field.

The naval chief impressed upon the passing out graduates to build a reputation of integrity, sense of competence and professional attitude, and come forward with their share in strengthening economic and industrial base of the country.

Earlier Lt-Gen (r) Syed Shujaat Hussain, Rector National Institute of Sciences and Technologies, said that the Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) had made considerable progress towards becoming a centre of excellence to meet the requirements of not only the Pakistan Navy, but also the country at large.
