PPP to join lawyers’ rally

Published March 21, 2007

LAHORE, March 20: Punjab PPP President Shah Mahmood Qureshi has directed party office-bearers, MPAs, ticket-holders and workers from across the province to reach Regal Chowk by 11am on Wednesday (today) to express solidarity with the protesting lawyers.

According to party’s Information Secretary Farzana Raja, the PPP fully supported the lawyers’ struggle and it would extend them full cooperation.

She strongly condemned the police action against the PPP leaders and workers in Mandi Bahauddin on Tuesday.

The party was to hold a public meeting there, but the administration used all conceivable methods to thwart the bid. She said some 200 workers were arrested from the meeting venue.
