HYDERABAD, March 19: Rich tributes were paid to renowned artist and sculptor late Zafar Kazmi for his services in the cause of Sindh and art at a condolence reference held at the Sindh Museum here on Sunday under the aegis of Zafar Kazmi Memorial Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, noted writer Ghulam Rabbani Agro said that with the departure of Zafar Kazmi, the institutes he had carved out of stables and abandoned places had been rendered orphans.

Obviously referring to the Sindh Museum which was founded by Zafar Kazmi, Mr Agro said that the custodians of the institutes had no time to look after the monuments collected there and preserve them in a proper manner.

He said that Zafar Kazmi was not only a great artist and sculptor but also a well known literary figure. He demanded that a comprehensive book on the life and works of Zafar Kazmi be published by the Sindh culture department.

Abdul Razzaq Chandio called upon the government to name one of the under-construction buildings on the premises of the museum after the late artist. He said that a Zafar Kazmi arts gallery should be established in the museum.

Other speakers included Saleem Channa, Jam Saqi, Nasreen Wafai, Momin Bullo, Ehsan Azeem, Yawar Kazmi and Zubair Kazmi. Quran Khwani and Majlis were also held.
