FAISALABAD, March 18: Three sisters, two of them in their teens, died mysteriously at their house in Naseerabad in Ghulam Muhammadabad police station precinct on Sunday.

Reports said Azra, 16, Razia, 19, and Rubina Kausar, 24, daughters of flower vendor Bashir Ahmad, were reciting the Holy Quran when they felt uneasy and within minutes their condition deteriorated.

A doctor was immediately called out for treatment, but the girls breathed their last one by one before they could be treated.

The news of the sisters’ death spread like a jungle fire and people rushed to Bashir’s home.

Bashir Ahmad, the ill-fated father, told Dawn that he had no idea as to what had happened to his daughters. He said marriages of Azra and Razia were scheduled to be held next month.

Ghulam Muhammadabad police station SHO Abid Zafar said there was no indication of suicide or any crime. Parts of the bodies had been sent to laboratory for thorough examination to check out whether the girls had consumed poison or not, he said, adding that the police were probing the case from various angles.

There was, however, no immediate word from any of the officials of the Jinnah Town in which the area falls.

Sources said the possibility of suicide or killing could not be ruled out as Razia, one of the sisters, had marks of torture on her face. However, they said, the postmortem report would clear the ambiguity. The girls were laid to rest later in the day.

UPGRADED: Power transformer of 66-KV Trug grid station has been upgraded to stabilise electricity supply besides enhancing its capacity to issue new electricity connections in this area.

Ahmad Saeed Akhtar, chief executive of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), said while addressing a meeting held to review the ongoing projects for the improvement of grid stations in various parts of this region, reports APP.

The CE said that capacity of 5.6-MVA power transformer of Trug grid station had been enhanced up to 12.5-MVA. “It would help FESCO to issue new connections in this area in addition to overcoming complaints of low voltage.
