SAHIWAL, March 18: Eight villages were plunged into darkness after unknown thieves took away electricity wire from poles near Chak 171/9-L on Saturday night.
Reports said thieves dislodged the wire from poles, loaded it on a pickup and disappeared from the scene. The value of the stolen wire was estimated at Rs350,000.
The affected villages are: Chak 170/9-L, 171/9-L, 165/9-L, 167/9-L, 164/9-L, 64-A/9-L, 163/9-L and 172/9-L.
The Mepco could not restore the power supply till the filing of this report.
Ghaziabad police have registered a case.
ARRESTED: Five youngsters were arrested for eve-teasing and manhandling teachers of a girls primary school in Chak 117/9-L.
Reports said that school headmistress Kulsoom Akhtar and teacher Mareena Akram were entering the school when accused Ahmed Yar alias Mahi, Ghulam Farid, Riaz, Faiz Muhammad and Amir Ali started teasing them. They admonished the accused and entered the school premises.
The accused followed them, manhandled the headmistress and her colleague and tore their clothes as well.
Kamir police have arrested all the accused and registered a case against them.
