KARACHI, March 18: Tehreek-i-Karkunan-i-Pakistan organised a function to honour the services rendered by Noman Zuberi, founder of the Muslim Students Federation during the Pakistan Movement.
This function was held in connection with the Pakistan Day celebrations at the Arts Council where Iqbal Nafees Khan, director of the Department of National Archives, Sindh, was the chief guest.
The ceremony included an exhibition of rare photographs of the Quaid-i-Azam with Mr Zuberi and other members of the MSF. Also on display were letters written by the Quaid to Mr Zuberi, including one in which the Quaid gave him permission to establish the students’ wing of the Muslim League.
Copies of all these photographs and letters were given to Iqbal Khan by Noman Zuberi’s son, Anwer Noman, for display at the Sindh and National Archives Centres. Speaking on the occasion Mr Khan said that he was honoured to receive such items and he would ensure that they were prominently displayed for the benefit of the public.
Two veterans of the Pakistan Movement and members of the MSF also recounted the services of Noman Zuberi and his efforts in uniting the Muslim students of India for the cause of Pakistan.
Waqar Zuberi, secretary-general of the Tehreek-i-Karkunan-i-Pakistan, spoke of the motivation that Noman Zuberi instilled in him and other Muslim students, so much so that along with two other students he drew a map of Pakistan in blood and presented it to the Quaid.
