Khyber likely to sprint to maiden win at KRC

KARACHI, March 17: Four-year-old bay colt, Khyber, is likely to sprint to maiden victory when the Gymkhana race meeting resumes at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. He has finished on the board in the last two outings and expected to further improve upon his performance by winning top honours.

Though there are 16 runners in the five furlongs opener barring last minute withdrawls, he is tipped to be chased by mare Sonia and colt Hamza Joy for the places.

A card of nine races has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 12.30pm.

Another four-year-old bay colt, Truf Shot, is on course for hat-trick and promises to oblige punters by repeating the winning feat.

Ridden by M. Nasir, he impressed with his run galloping to facile victories in the last two fixtures.

Filly Foolish Pleasure and mare Sweet Grandy should battle it out for the second and third positions.

Syed Ismail Shah’s six-year-old bay mare Ouija Board whose winning streak was interrupted by Phapha Kutni is fancied to atone to previous loss by claiming the feature event.

With four wins on trot, she had to be content with third place on March 1.

Her likely challengers are fillies Stormy Kiss and Abhi Abhi.

On form seven-year-old bay filly Virile is poised to make it two-in-a-row should she edge out opponent’s to land the supporting event.

Those who are in the reckoning for places are colt Sindh Malook and mare Butter Fly.

If allowed to run on merit, seven-year-old chestnut mare Queen Of Awan should pick up spoils in the seventh race. She was among those who also ran on Wednesday.

She is likely to get opposition from mare Silent Love and filly Breaking News.

After finishing a miserable fourth in last run four-year-old bay colt Shah Sawar is our fancy in div V class VII to be gone over four-and-a-half furlongs.

Despite being a public fancy he was not allowed to run on merit by rider Fahim K.

Mare Princess Rozi, bay colt Midas Touch and bay horse Jack In The Box should win their respective races.
