KARACHI, March 17: A 27-year-old woman, who had left her house two days ago after an altercation with her elder brother, was shot dead on Saturday near the Natha Khan Goth bridge in Sharea Faisal police limits.
Police said an official of the Sharea Faisal police, ASI Ikhtiar Ali, spotted Irum Saiqa, resident of Majeed Colony, Landhi, lying fatally wounded near the bridge around 4am when he was on way to his home in Shah Faisal Colony after the day’s work.
The woman told the police official her name and address, and she also told him that she had been shot by her friend, Tariq Khan alias Tehseen, son of Ayub Khan, resident of Shah Faisal Colony.The police said the woman was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where she died. Hospital sources said the victim received five bullets, two in her hips, one on the back and two in the abdomen.
Her brother, Mohammed Nadim Asif, lodged the case against Tariq Khan. He told the police that suspect Tariq was a friend of his sister and he used to visit their house. He said on March 15 his sister became angry after an altercation with him and she left the house around 8pm.
INJURED: Three people were injured in Eidgah police area when three fleeing dacoits opened fire.
Eidgah police said three dacoits were fleeing after depriving a man of his cellular phone near Abdullah Shah Mosque at Old Kumharwala Street when two constables, patrolling the area on a motorcycle, were told by people about the robbery.
The police said the fleeing dacoits opened fire on the chasing policemen who also returned the fire. They said three passers-by and one of the suspected robbers were injured in the crossfire.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital where passers-by were identified as Ghulam Rabbani, 65, Akhtar Javed, 60, and Irfan, 30.
The police arrested the injured suspect who was identified as Irfan son of Aziz.—Staff Reporter
