Now: Lives in waterside property in St. Michaels village in Maryland, about an hour and a half’s drive from Washington.

Vice President Dick Cheney is a neighbour.

Colin Powell, 69, secretary of state, 2001 to 2005.

Now: lecture circuit; member of the board for AOL co-founder Steve Case’s health firm Revolution; strategic limited partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

George Tenet, 54, director of CIA, 1997 to 2004.

Now: writing memoir due to be published in April. Member of Guidance Software board of directors.

Paul Wolfowitz, 63, deputy secretary of defence, 2001 to 2005.

Now: World Bank president.

Douglas Feith, 53, undersecretary of defense for policy, 2001 to 2005.

Now: professor of national security policy at Georgetown University. Writing memoir on the war on terrorism.

Richard Perle, 65, chairman of Defence Policy Board at the Defence Department, 2001 to 2003.

Now: resident fellow at American Enterprise Institute, a Washington think tank.

Lewis “Scooter” Libby, 56, chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, 2001 to 2005.

Now: awaiting sentencing for perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements to investigators probing who revealed the identity of a covert CIA officer.
