Aamir Atlas falls in Malaysia


KARACHI, March 16: With the defeat of Aamir Atlas Khan at the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur on Friday, Pakistan’s interest in the CIMB Kuala Lumpur Open squash championship ended.

All other Pakistan players – Shahid Zaman, Bilal Zaman and Mansoor Zaman – had gone out easily in initial stages of the US$40,000 tournament.

Aamir lost to Mohammed Abbas of Egypt 5-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-6, 3-11 in the 50-minute thriller.

Results:

Nick Matthew (ENG) bt Ong Beng Hee (MAS) 11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 11-10; Aamir Atlas (PAK) lost to Abbas (EGY) 5-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-6, 3-11; Stewart Boswell (AUS) bt Alister Walker (ENG) 11-9, 11-7, 11-7; Karim Darwish (EGY) bt Mohd Azlan Iskandar (MAS) 8-11, 11-10 (5-3), 11-9, 11-8.
