HYDERABAD, March 16: On the call of PML-N, a shutter down strike was observed in Hala town to protest action against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. All the business centres, including fruit and vegetable markets remained closed.

A protest procession was also brought out in the town which was led by PML-N leaders Akhtar Bhambhro, Rao Aslam, Ghulam Ali Pappu, Abdul Shakoor Soomro and others.

After marching on the main roads, the protesters staged a sit-in on the National Highway for quite sometime and raised slogans against President Musharraf.

POLICEMAN DIES: A policeman identified as Qadir Bux 38, son of Mohammad Khan Leghari, was crushed to death under the wheels of a light truck near Hala on Friday morning.

According to reports, the constable was going to his village Saeed Khan Leghari on his motorcycle after performing duty when he was hit by the speedy light truck and crushed to death under its wheels. The truck was coming to Hyderabad from Nawabshah.

The deceased constable was immediately rushed to the Taluka Hospital Hala where doctors pronounced him dead.
