SHC takes up plea against SCBA chief today

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 15: A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) will take up on Friday a petition against Supreme Court Bar Association President Munir A. Malik, accused of trying to influence and pressurise the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), said petitioner-lawyer Shaikh Rehmatullah.

The SHC division bench comprises Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab.

The petitioner alleges that Mr Malik is an influential lawyer and has launched a campaign to frustrate a presidential reference against Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and the SJC proceedings on it.

The petitioner has accused Mr Malik of instigating the members of legal fraternity to agitate in front of the Supreme Court.
