Underground wiring for Multan proposed
MULTAN, March 15: The City District Government Multan (CDGM) has proposed that the city should have underground electricity system to avoid risks of electricity-related accidents.
District nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar said after a meeting with Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) chief executive Brig Tariq Rasool (retired) here on Thursday that the proposal would be sent to Wapda soon for preparing a feasibility report.
He said wires hanging over the houses in the city could cause accident. He offered MEPCO financial help to install poles in such areas so that jumbled wires could be rearranged.
He stressed the need for accelerating pace of work of village electrification.
MEPCO chief said a plan was being prepared to offer electricity all over the country.
He said on recommendations of CDGM, a locality having 10 houses would be offered electricity facility this year.
He said underground wiring for Multan city was a mega project which required long-term planning.—APP
