Four vie for tehsil councils’ election

By Our Correspondent

LAYYAH, March 15: Four candidates have filed nomination papers for the naib nazim slots of Layyah and Choubara tehsil councils.

Hafiz Jamil Ahmed and Muzafar Iqbal Dhool are in the run for the Layyah tehsil council and Chaudhry Muhammad Husain and Sibtain Husain Shah for Choubara tehsil. Election will be held on March 17 (tomorrow).

Both contestants for the Layyah tehsil council belong to the same faction of the ruling party, so Mr Dhool may be a covering candidate for Hafiz Jamil.

A tough contest is expected for the Choubara tehsil naib nazim seat. According to a local political analyst, Chaudhry Muhammad Husain has the support of MNA Bahadar Ahmed Khan Sehar and former district nazim Shahabuddin Khan Sehar. His opponent Sibtan Husain Shah enjoyed the support of tehsil nazim Qaisar Khan Magsi.

The Sehars and Magsis have been political allies and now parted their ways in Choubara tehsil naib nazim election.

On the other hand, Hafiz Jamil Ahmed, a former ticket holder of PML-N from PP-266, joined the ruling PML on Thursday at a press conference.
