HYDERABAD, March 15: An All Parties Conference, organized by Jamaat-i-Islami, Hyderabad chapter, at the press club on Thursday, pointed out that without a master plan, the development schemes under the Hyderabad Development Package would not give desired results.

The conference was held in connection with “Save Hyderabad” campaign launched by the Jamaat.

The declaration issued at the conclusion of the conference demanded that the MNAs and MPAs of Hyderabad be taken into confidence and informed about the income and expenditure being incurred on the development schemes of the city under the package.

It demanded that water and sewerage schemes should be completed as soon as possible to ensure the supply of clean drinking water to 100 per cent population of the city.

It demanded that dual carriage roads should be constructed from Channel Mori to Ganghra Mori, Ganghra Mori to Fateh Chowk and Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road.

It said that in densely populated areas, multi-storey buildings and shopping centres should not be constructed without prior provision of water supply, sewerage system and parking lots.

The conference pointed out that following heavy rains last year, Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas were declared calamity-affected areas but the people, whose properties valued at tens of millions of rupees had been destroyed, had not been given any relief till date, including utility bills, property tax and loans on easy instalments.

It demanded that loans free of mark-up should be given to the affected people and they should be exempted from property tax for the next five years.

Coming at the fag end of the conference, Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo in his speech demanded that a citizens rights and resources committee should be appointed to protect the rights of the citizens and take stock of available resources.

Other speakers inculded MNA Asadullah Bhutto, MPAs Abdul Rehman Rajput and Zahid Bhurgari and PML-N leader Afzal Gujjar.
