KARACHI: IDSP moot

KARACHI, March 15: The Infectious Disease Society of Pakistan (IDSP) will hold its fifth annual conference at Abbottabad from March 23-24, said the president of the society.

The Karachi based IDSP president, Dr. Naseem Salahuddin, said on Thursday that infectious disease was one of the most common conditions in Pakistan for which a child or adult is taken to a doctor, and yet its study or awareness was less than optimum among the general public as well as among health care providers.

The annual conference will include a three-hour workshop each on infection control, rabies and tuberculosis and HIV. An oral and poster presentations on topics related to viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections, correct antibiotic therapy, clinical and laboratory diagnosis of systemic infections and hospital acquired infections will be held on the second day, said Dr Salahuddin.—Staff Reporter
