KARACHI: Funds for Absa

Published March 16, 2007

KARACHI, March 15: The Helpline Trust organised an event to raise funds for Absa, a non-profit school for teaching children with impaired hearing. The programme coincided with the distribution of Helpline Trust's Corporate Social Responsibility Awards. These were awarded to 13 local and multinational corporations by Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro.

These companies had qualified and been selected by a panel of experts and judges for their positive contribution to society, consumer rights and for providing quality products at a fair price to consumers.

The Helpline Trust has been advocating good governance since 1994. It realised that the only way to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Karachi was to demand and advocate good governance through the rule of law, accountability and a code of conduct in government and society.

To accomplish this, it has initiated formal and informal actions to draw the attention of the government and the citizens to the corruption and misuse of public funds.
