KARACHI: Illustrations of Sind tiles

KARACHI, March 15: Henry Cousens’ Portfolio of Illustrations of Sind Tiles was launched at the Mohatta Palace Museum on Wednesday, says a press release. The folio with 52 coloured plates is the only existing documented record of the tiles of the Indus Valley. Their patterns and embellishment are a reflection of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.

It was first published in 1906 in London; this edition has been published with the sponsorship of Jahangir Siddiqui and Company. Jahangir Siddiqui was present and acknowledged the role that the Mohatta Palace Museum is playing in promoting the diverse cultural heritage of Pakistan.

He made an appeal for the setting up of Friends of Literature and Friends of Mohatta Palace Museum to help the museum in its activities. Dr Nabi Baksh Baloch, eminent scholar to whom the edition was dedicated, was also present.

Dr Nasreen Askari, curator of the Mohatta Palace Museum, and Hameed Haroon, Managing Trustee, welcomed the guests.
