KARACHI, March 15: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro has said the government will provide better infrastructure facilities to attract investment in industrial sector that will create more jobs and help in alleviating poverty.

He was speaking as chief guest at the foundation laying ceremony of U.G. Food Company at Bin Qasim Industrial Estate here on Thursday.

Mr Soomro said it was the first Pakistan-Turkey joint venture in food processing which, hopefully, would produce quality confectionery products. He expressed the hope that this joint venture would prove a role model in the industrial sector.

Turkish Consul-General said this was the first food processing joint venture of ULKER group in Pakistan. The group already has its operations in 95 countries with a turnover of $7.7 billion and $400 million worth of exports.

Yousuf Ismail, Director and CEO of UG Food, said the project would start commercial production from September or October this year.—APP
