Paper dealers seek CBR’s help
LAHORE, March 14: The Lahore Paper Merchants Group sought the intervention of the Central Board of Revenue chairman for resolving the issue of increase in prices during his visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday.
Group president and LCCI executive committee member Khamas Saeed Butt told the chairman that paper prices had increased from Rs40 per kilogram to Rs52 per kg as three big mills - Flying, Premier and Mandiali - had raised the prices by 25 per cent without any justification.
The Flying Mills had also raised the price of its board by Rs6,000 per ton.
He said prices of books were increasing due to profiteering by the paper mills and merchants and carton makers were finding it difficult to continue their business due to continuous and unjustified increase in prices.
Mr Butt said the government should allow duty-free import of paper to counter black marketing by mills.
