Exporters losing orders

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 14: The Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA) has complained that exporters are unable to fulfil their export orders owing to liquidity crunch caused by non-payment of sales tax refunds.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, PHMA Chief Coordinator Jawed Bilwani said that several meetings had been held with the high-ups of the Sales Tax Collectorate in this regard but so far no measures had been taken for speedy payment of pending refund claims.

He lamented that as a result of long delay in ST refund payment a large number of hosiery units had closed down across the country but the sales tax authorities were still reluctant to move.
