Khairpur without power

Published March 14, 2007

KHAIRPUR, March 13: Khairpur city remained without power for 25 hours on Monday from 8am to 9pm. The breakdown was one of the longest as power remained suspended for more than 25 hours from the university feeder and for 14 hours from three others.

The main transformers T-2 KPR-2 supplying electricity to Khairpur sub-division from the grid station went out of order due to a fault in circuit-breaker/shaft.

Power was restored after connecting it with the transformer of Luqman sub-division. This overloaded the transformer dropping the voltage. However, electricity at the university feeder was restored at about 10am on Tuesday.

Emergency staff was called from Sukkur and Larkana which removed the fault in main power transformer of grid station. Trade activities were badly affected during the breakdown.
