BAHAWALPUR, March 13: A three-day international conference on “Nuclearisation of South Asia: Consequences, challenges and peace prospects” opened at the Islamia University Bahawalpur here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest former federal minister Muhammad Fazal Janjua said Pakistan’s nuclear programme stood for peaceful purposes. He said Pakistan strictly adhered to principles of non-proliferation and was opposed to unauthorised transfer of nuclear technology to other countries.
IUB vice-chancellor Dr Belal A Khan in his presidential address said such conferences were important for academic activities of the university.
Earlier, the coordinator dilated upon objectives of the conference. The moot is being participated by delegates from China, India and Bangladesh in addition to experts from universities across the country.
