Two children, three others die in rain: Flood in Chenab, Tavi

SIALKOT, March 13: At least five people including two children died in rain-related incidents while seven others injured in Sialkot and Sahiwal districts.
Reports said in Sialkot district a landlord, Rana Akhtar, and his servant Kashif were electrocuted to death when they received a heavy shock while chopping fodder with an electric cutter at Chak Baig, Daska, on Tuesday.
They cutter gave electric shock because of the rainy weather.
In another incident, Junaid Ashraf (20) died when struck by lightening at his outhouse during heavy rain at Nagor Aadha village in Daska tehsil.
The intermittent rains have adversely affected the wheat, potato, fodder and other crops in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
In Sahiwal district, two children died from electrocution in separate rain-related incidents.

Of Rosha Shahani village died when they accidentally touched live electric wires in rainy weather.
In other incidents, roofs of various houses reportedly caved in Mauza Akbar, Thatha Araaian and Bhojian, injuring Abdul Karim, Faryaz, Din, Sumaira, Sughran and two minors Shams and Nimmo.
They were admitted to the hospital where the condition of Abdul karim, Sughran and Nimmo was stated to be serious.
FLOOD: The continuing wet spell caused a spate in the rivers Tavi and Chenab.
The medium level flood in the River Tavi on Tuesday cut off Bajwat’s 85 villages from the rest of the country. The boatmen have suspended service due to the flood.
About a month ago, these villages were cut off from the rest of the country due to collapse of a wooden belly bridge over the river near Saidpur. The bridge is the only source of communication available to the people of Bajwat villages.
Meanwhile, according to Flood Warning Centre in Lahore, the river Chenab would be in high flood in 24 hours.
The flow of water is expected to reach 240,000 cusecs to 300,000 cusecs.
The flood could affect Hafizabad, Jhang and Sargodha districts. Of these three districts, areas of Jamke Chattha, Rasulnagar, Alipur Chattha, Pirkot, Bhairowal, Mahmoodpur, Vinike, Halalpur, Kot Ghazi, Midranjha, Gurnao, Pindi Bhattian, Chiniot, Rajwah, Bhukhari, Katri, Bhawana and Jalalpur would be under danger.
The centre on Tuesday urged the residents of these areas to take precautionary measures.
