Two killed in rain-related incidents

By Our Correspondent

KHAAR, March 13: Two people, including a minor boy, were killed in rain-related incidents in different areas of the Bajaur Agency on Tuesday.

In the first incident, said officials, the roof of the house of one Muslim Khan collapsed in the Arang area, killing his five-year-old son Sana Khan. Several cattle heads were also buried alive.

In the second incident, one Abdul Qayyum was buried under a mudslide in the Chamarkand village near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border while he was working in his fields.

Witnesses said that Qayyum was working in his fields when he was buried alive under the mudslide, and added that villagers had to dig up the site to retrieve his body.

They said the electricity supply to the tribal agency had been suspended for the last three days as the region received incessant rain. The telephone service was also disrupted in many areas.

Authorities said the death toll from rain-related incidents during the past three days had reached eight.
