RAWALPINDI, March 11: The Adiala jail authorities on Sunday recovered seven mobile sets, two chargers and two transistors from the custody of prisoners.

Superintendent Adiala jail Shahid Saleem Baig said following information that some prisoners were using cellphones, a special team comprising deputy superintendent Noor Hassan Baghella, Jahi Mohammad Saifullah and other staff was constituted which carried out a search and recovered the gadgets.

Meanwhile, the inspector-general of prisons, Punjab, Sarfaraz Ahmed Mufti and superintendent Adiala jail Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig returned from a two-week official visit to the United Kingdom.

During their stay in the UK, they visited several prisons and the prison service training college at Rugby and held meetings with senior officials. Saleem Baig has recently taken over the charge of Adiala jail. He reiterated that he would deal with every matter in accordance with the jail rules and would not tolerate complaints related to torture and corruption.
