KANDAHAR, March 11: Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar is in Afghanistan and leading the battle against the government and its international allies, a top rebel commander said on Saturday.
Mullah Dadullah rejected speculation that Mullah Omar was in Pakistan. Asked in a telephone interview where Mullah Omar is, he said: “I won’t tell you that. But one thing I can tell you is that if he was in Pakistan, he would have been captured just like many others.” Dadullah said the Taliban were working closely with Al Qaeda.—AFP
