Robbers loot cash, valuables

LAHORE, March 11: Robbers bagged cash and valuables besides driving away with vehicles in different parts of the city on Sunday.

In Racecourse area, robbers deprived a passerby of cash and cell phone. Police said two armed men stopped Mansoor on Habibullah Road and snatched Rs50,000 and cell phone at gunpoint.

Two gangsters stopped a car on Mohni Road in Lower Mall area and drove away with it after dragging the owner out at gunpoint. A motorcycle was taken away from Shafiqabad.

Nadeem was robbed of Rs900 in cash and cell phone in Liaquatabad area while Adnan was deprived of his cell phone on Ravi Road. Two vehicles were driven away from Sanda and Nawankot areas.

ELECTROCUTED: A labourer was electrocuted when he touched an iron bar along a high voltage supply line during construction work in Shahdara on Sunday.

The police said Zakir Ali, 32, was working on the third storey of a house, owned by Mansha, along with other fellows in Bashir Colony. An iron bar was being laid in the stairs when it touched the 11-kilowatt line as a result of which Zakir received a shock and died.

A resident of Nankana Sahib, Zakir was currently staying with his relatives in Mian Colony for work.

The police handed over the body to the family after completing formalities.

SUICIDE: A woman strangulated herself over a domestic issue in Harbanspura on Sunday.

The police said Farah Naz, a resident of Habib Park, had contracted marriage with Nadeem Fayyaz, but both had not been enjoying good relations.
