Truf Shot tipped to put up another bold show

KARACHI, March 10: Four-year-old bay colt Truf Shot who edged past Midas Touch in the last outing should be in line for another bold show when the Gymkhana race meeting resumes at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Ridden by Champion Rider of 2006 M. Nasir and saddled by veteran trainer Mushtaq Ali Khan, Gul Mohammad Rajar’s colt galloped to three and three-quarter-of-a-length victory in a smart time after a long layoff.

Three form horses – Donatello, Sugar Sweet and Thanks Naeem – are in the run for places in a field of eight contenders in the third race to be run over five-and-a-half furlongs.

The first race starts at 12.30pm.

Syed Ismail Shah’s bay mare Ouija Board should make amends by claiming the feature event going over a sprinting distance of six furlongs. She settled for third behind Phapha Kutni and Moon Raker on March 1 after putting up a brilliant run by winning four races on trot.

She is likely to get opposition from Stormy Kiss, Fantasia, Tharkyee and Abhi Abhi. The latter two are from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara.

Seven-year-old bay horse Virile is fancied to repeat his winning feat by overcoming the opposition in the supporting event.

He posted a facile eight lengths victory over Trsut Again in the last outing with Fahim K astride.

He should be chased by Sindh Malook and Butter Fly for the places.

If tried by connections, mare Meri Paidagiree and colt Khyber should pick up the first two races. Mare Sweet Touch, if allowed to run on merit, may bring an element of surprise in the second race.

Jack In The Box, Lucky Leader and Princess Rozi have the potential to claim honours in the remaining races.
