KARACHI, March 10: The Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan said on Saturday said the Indian authorities would share all the findings vis-à-vis Samjhota Express explosions with their Pakistani counterparts and any leads which the Pakistani authorities could investigate in their territory would be duly passed on by the Indian police.
“Police in India are investigating the incident and we’ll certainly share all the findings with the Pakistani officials,” said Satyabrata Pal, High Commissioner of India, at a book launch ceremony here.
Mr Pal said the obvious intention of those responsible for the terrorist attack on Samjhota Express was to create misunderstandings and revival of animosity between Pakistan and India but both the nation foiled the conspiracy.
He said India was ‘extremely keen’ to revive its deputy high commission in Karachi, which, he said, would ‘soon’ be made possible.
“Most Pakistanis going to India belong to this region and there was a time when our consulate in Karachi issued visas to over 100,000 people a year. Besides, Karachi’s stature as the hub of Pakistan’s economy also merits revitalising the Indian consulate,” he added
He said the deputy high commission building in Karachi had been renovated and would be formally opened once Pakistan opened its deputy high commission in Mumbai.
