KARACHI, March 9: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has urged people to forge unity to fight against religious extremism in Sindh.

Addressing a gathering telephonically at the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero, where the Sindhi intellectuals and writers who have joined the MQM were present, Mr Hussain said that Sindh was the land of Sufis and their followers who had liberal thoughts, adding that there had never been religious extremism in the people of this province.

He said that MQM always adopted a just and strong stance on all issues of Sindh and it was still firm on its viewpoint.

He asked people of Sindh, particularly intellectuals and writers, to come forward and raise their voice for the rights of Sindh in a more effective and organised manner.

He welcomed Sajid Soomro, Aijaz Solangi, Hakim Channa and Mohammad Bachal to the MQM fold.
