KARACHI, March 9: A 55-year-old woman and her 27-year-old son were shot dead on Friday by robbers in Saeedabad. Reports said a gang of four barged into the house of Surriya Masih in Saadullah Mohallah around 4am. One of the house inmates, Irfan Masih, woke up as the dacoits disconnected the power supply. The dacoits opened fire when Irfan struggled with the intruders fatally wounding him and his mother.

The woman and her son were shifted to the Civil Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Hospital sources said both the victim received one bullet each which went through the bodies.

The police registered the case against four robbers; two of them named and arrested, on the complaint of Shafiq Masih, the eldest son of Surriya Masih.

The complainant told the police that he also woke up when he heard gunshots and saw four intruders fleeing the house. He said his wounded brother told him that he knew two of the robbers and identified them as Shahzad son of Morris Masih and Imran alias Baggu son of Amanat Masih, both residents of the same vicinity. The police arrested the two named suspects and started investigation.

BODY FOUND: Body of a 55-year-old man was found in a gunny bag under the Sohrab Goth bridge. It was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where sources said the man was strangled.
