KARACHI: Pakistan wants peace: CNS: AMAN 07

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, March 9: The Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir said on Friday that holding the multi-national naval exercise, AMAN 07, was consistent with the Pakistan Navy’s primary duty of safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers. AMAN 07 is currently in its sea phase.

“AMAN 07, hosted by Pakistan Navy, has made it possible for maritime nations to eradicate terrorism,” the CNS said talking to newsmen out at sea to witness the exercise. Undertaking this gigantic task is a testimony to Pakistan’s substantial contribution towards peace and harmony in the region, he added. The naval chief said the exercise involved a year long planning and hectic efforts.

The CNS observed that the exercise would not only consolidate achievements made so far towards peace and security but also project Pakistan as a vibrant and important country and enable it to play a more dynamic role in the security formulation of the region.

Onboard PNS NASR, the naval chief was briefed about the exercise’s operational aspects. He also boarded foreign warships and ships of Pakistan Navy. Besides the exercise out at sea, special operations exercises are also being conducted by special forces.
