MIRAMSHAH, March 8: The headquarters of Touchi Scouts came under mortar attack in Miramshah in North Waziristan on Thursday, official sources said.

Loud explosions of mortar shells and subsequent movement of helicopter gunships caused panic among residents of the restive town and some schools were immediately closed.

Miramshah Assistant Political Officer Naeem Anwar Saduzai told journalists that two mortar shells were fired from an unknown location. One of the shells landed inside the headquarters, destroying a room but causing no casualties. He said that the other shell exploded near a checkpoint of the paramilitary forces.
