Six schoolboys among 7 killed in accident

By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, March 8: Six schoolboys and a rickshaw driver were killed and seven other people were injured when a truck rammed into two rickshaws near Khanqah Dogran, Nankana district, on Thursday morning.

At least 20 children from the Salar Bhattian village were on their way to school in Khanqah in two rickshaws. The rickshaw drivers started racing on the Sargodha Road. Due to over-speeding they could not avoid being rammed by a truck which was coming from the opposite direction.

As a consequence, five boys Muneeb, Kawish, Osama Muzammil and Osama Abdullah died on the spot. Another boy, Talha, and rickshaw driver Arshad later died at the Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

Six other students, including two schoolgirls, and a rickshaw driver were seriously injured and were admitted to a local hospital.

The truck driver had escaped immediately after the accident.
