HYDERABAD, March 8: Demonstrations and rallies were held in different parts of Sindh on Thursday in protest against the implication of a private TV channel cameraman Hadi Bukhsh Sangi in a murder case and failure of the police to arrest the killers of his nephew Munir Sangi (also a TV cameraman) and newsman Munir Arain.

They appealed to the superior judiciary and urged the federal and provincial governments to order the arrest of the murderers of Sangi and Arain and withdrawal of false case instituted against cameraman Hadi Sangi.

In Hyderabad, a big procession was taken out by journalists who marched from the press club to the DPO's office. A large number of activists belonging to political, religious and social welfare organisations also participated in the rally to express solidarity with journalists.

Later, a protest meeting was held in the press club auditorium which was addressed by STP Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, PML-N leader Afzal Gujjar, SNF leader Ayub Shar, MMA leader Rehman Rajput and representatives of the local journalists.

They said Munir Arain had been brutally murdered in Shahpur Jehanian but the police had taken no action against the culprits. They called upon the Sindh chief minister to take notice of harassment and intimidation unleashed against journalists of Sindh.

The meeting adopted a resolution demanding arrest of the murderers of Munir Sangi and Munir Arain.

Meanwhile, journalists also staged a demonstration in Tando Allahyar.

The protesting journalists demanded immediate arrest of the murderers and protection for journalists.

MITHI: Journalists, lawyers and activists of political and social organisations took out a rally to condemn the murder of Munir Arain and Munir Sangi.

Addressing the rally at Kashmir chowk, speakers expressed concern over the police failure to arrest the accused involved in the murders.

KHAIRPUR: Journalists and NGO activists, led by President of the Khairpur Press Club Khan Mohammad Manganhar and General Secretary Ghulam Qadir Soomro, staged a demonstration outside the press club.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Journalists of Naushahro Feroze also held a protest demonstration.

NAWABSHAH: Journalist of Nawabshah, Doulatpur, Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand, Daur, Bandhi and other areas demonstrated outside the press club demanding arrest of the killers of journalists.

They accused the police of not taking interest in resolving the murder case. They also accused the Larkana police of registering a fake case against Hadi Sangi, the uncle of Munir Sangi, and of protecting the killers.

DADU: Journalists of Dadu, Mehar, Sehwan, Bhan, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Johi towns held a protest rally in Dadu and criticised police for their failure to arrest the murderers of journalists.

LARKANA: Processions were taken out in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot on the call of the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday. They demanded protection for journalists. Leaders of different political parties also took part in the rallies.
