KARACHI: Power failures persist

Published March 9, 2007

KARACHI, March 8: Residents of different areas complained of prolonged and intermittent power breakdowns on Thursday.

A resident of the area near the Askary Park (Old Sabzi Mandi) said that power supply to the area was suspended at 6am and restored at 8am. He said consumers had requested officials of the KESC for replacement of the local outdated and rusting supply lines, but to no avail, adding that power supply was suspended even by birds trying to sit on the lines.

A caller from Surjani Town said that power supply to the locality was suspended at 2pm and restored at 5pm. A complaint from MPR Colony, Manghopir, said that power was suspended on Wednesday night at 9pm and restored at 7am.—A Reporter
