Pakistan face Asian games champions Qatar on 14th

LAHORE, March 7: Pakistan will face Asian Games champions Qatar in Olympic qualifying home soccer match at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium on Wednesday.

Qatar, who became Asian Games gold medallists in their own backyard last December, will be visiting Pakistan for the first time.

“We know Qatar will be tough rivals but it doesn’t mean we don’t have a chance. We do have a chance as some times underdogs can upset favourites,” said president of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Faisal Saleh Hayat on Wednesday.

With an aim to attract more crowd, entry into the stadium will be free. The match will be shown Live on PTV World.

While Pakistan won the home and away matches against comparatively lowly-rated Singapore, they are now facing the real test. After the victories against Singapore, Pakistan were thrashed 8-0 by Bahrain in away fixture.—Agencies
