LAKKI MARWAT, March 7: Female councillors of the district said that women would not run for the seats reserved for them during the next local government elections because they had been completely ignored in the identification and approval of development schemes.

Speaking at a four-day workshop here on Wednesday, they said that women elected representatives also failed to get any allowance or honorarium.

The workshop was organised by the Social Welfare and Community Development Department.

The women speakers said that the district government failed to take practical steps to enable female councillors to get their due share in development funds.

They said that women would not participate in the next local government elections as they were denied their rights and had been completely ignored by the government. About 50 women councillors attended the event.
