LAHORE, March 6: Four-year-old bay colt Re Born looks favourite to win the feature event when the card of five midweek Lahore Gymkhana races goes at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The feature event, Kharian Plate class-V division-1, which is the fifth race of the day, will be contested over 1100metres. It has seven acceptors barring last-minute withdrawals.

Re Born enjoys advantage on handicap while the distance goes in favour of four-year-old Hallow Dancer. Five-year-old horse Rough Tough is in top form and never misses appearance on the board.

Harry Can Run, Tallal The Great and Rana Choice look good in the fourth and supporting event, the Kharian Plate class-V division-11, contested over 1100metres. Four-year-old colt Cobbler is a cut above in class and bloodline but doing nothing to be reckoned. This should be a well-contested event.

Prince Salman, Faryal and Super Master attract attention in a field of 14 runners drawn for the third race, a class-VII division-1 handicap to be run over 900metres.

Majority of the runners have not won a race or appeared on the board. It will look unfair to say that they have not yet been tried by their connections.

Prince Salman and Faryal have won a race each and are capable of repeating their performance. Prince Salman looks better than Faryal.

The second race, a class-VII division-11 handicap of over 900metres, has eleven runners if there are no last minute withdrawals.

If form and speed are the yardstick to measure the strength of four-legged-athletes, then the six-year-old mare, Royal Fish should make amends this time.

Royal Fish was beaten by Intikhab-e-Bhakkar and Speed Demon to third place on Feb 26. If she produces the same performance she would win.

Simoom, Murad King and Bosra Sham may fight for lesser remunerative positions.

The first race, class-VII division-11 handicap of over 900metres, has largest field of 18 runners. The race is full of chance acceptors. On top are the two fielded by former international hockey star Munir Dar. They are mare Rang Dey Basanti and filly Janu.

On Feb 17, Janu disappointed him while Rang Dey Basanti ran much better, but was beaten by Himmat. Both the horses are appearing once again in the race.

High Hope, Dashing Paradise, Wah Cisco Wah and Black Leopard should fight for a place on the board.

The first race is scheduled to start at 1:30pm.
