Bengalis held at Indian border

SIALKOT, March 6: Pakistani security forces arrested nine Bengalis for crossing into Pakistan illegally near Pasrur on Monday night.

Security officials arrested Muhammad Sohail, Abdullah, Muhammad Farooq, Javed, Suleman, Habibur Rehman, Waleed, Shahbaz and Jehangir and shifted them to an undisclosed location.

Two weeks ago, Pakistani security forces arrested over two dozen Bangladeshis for entering Pakistan through the Sialkot Working Boundary.

MASJID SCHOOLS: The Education Department has issued a notification to abolish all the masjid maktab schools in the district.

District Monitoring Officer Nadeem Sarwar said masjid maktab schools had been merged into their nearer government primary and elementary schools.

BUSTED: Sialkot district police have smashed 16 gangs of dacoits and arrested their 66 members.

DPO Zubair Nawaz Chattha told a press conference on Tuesday that police had seized two cars, 17 motorcycles, one tractor, gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs11 million from them.

The DPO said police also arrested 264 notorious offenders, 178 court absconders, 118 accused drug pushers and 242 for possessing illicit weapons.
