HYDERABAD, March 6: An agreement was signed on Tuesday for establishing a blood bank, thalassaemia and haematological centre at the cost of Rs300 million in the Hilal-e-Ahmer Building, Hyderabad.

The deal was signed between Hilal-e-Ahmer and the Fatimid Foundation at the camp office of DCO. The centre will run under the patronage of both these organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed and president district Red Crescent Society informed that zila nazim Naveed Jamil will inaugurate this centre very soon.

`The district government was giving top priority to health services for which it decided to establish this centre. It will not only to cater to the people of Hyderabad but of interior Sindh as well,’ he said.

Unscreened blood was the major cause of rise in hepatitis A, B and C cases and HIV virus, he said, adding that thus it was decided to use the building purely for charitable purpose. Establishment of blood bank and thalassaemia centre was the need of people, he further stated.
