KARACHI, March 6: A gang of five bandits looted Rs518,000 from a bank branch in Peerabad. The police said the dacoits held the staff and bank guard hostage at gunpoint and looted the cash. They also wounded the bank guard, Rehman Zada.
ACCIDENTS: A lady doctor was knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle in the Aziz Bhatti police area.Police said Dr Rukhsana, 54, was crossing the road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal when a speeding jeep hit her. She died instantly, they said.
The doctor, resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, was working at Dehli Hospital near Nagin Chowrangi.
A 40-year-old man was killed after he fell from the Shalimar Express at Quaidabad.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was identified as Humayoon Khan, resident of Landhi. The police said the victim fell to the ground as he tried to get off the moving train.
ELECTROCUTED: A 20-year-old construction worker was electrocuted in Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad. His body was shifted to the JPMC where he was identified as Abdul Hameed, resident of Kashmir Colony.
Reports said a wire from the electric pole fell on the victim, who was working on the rooftop of an under-construction building. His body was sent to his hometown in Dera Ghazi Khan.
