KARACHI, March 5: The upgradation of district account officers, pension of retired and salaries of non-gazetted employees and improvement in the condition of government offices were discussed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Finance Adviser M.A. Jalil on Monday.

The meeting was attended by the accountant-general of Sindh, all district account and treasury officers.

On the occasion, the adviser directed that salaries of all government employees should be paid through bank to ensure their timely release.

Regarding ghost employees, a directive was issued that all data from the relevant departments should be received with CNICs and the same should be computerised through Nadra to eliminate ghost employees.

All the district account and treasury officers were directed not to receive any bill, including PWD cheques, after June 10.

The concerned divisional account officers were bound down that cash book would not be issued after the time prescribed by the Sindh accountant-general.

M.A. Jalil said it had come to his knowledge that certain government employees were working at different places at a time which was giving rise to various ills, on the one hand, and depriving the educated youth of their right, on the other.

He asked the AG to get data computerised with regard to pension of retired employees and gave 2-3 months for this purpose.

The meeting considered the upgradation of posts of treasury officers and directives were issued to the finance department for improvement in the condition of offices of district account and treasury officers.

In rural areas, the adviser observed, the working conditions become tough due to hot weather and said that ACs be installed in their offices there while proper arrangements for seating and water be made for visitors.

He issued order for the provision of vehicles to all treasury officers and said these would be delivered to them during the current month.

Present on the occasion were Finance Secretary Malik Israr, Additional Secretaries Abdul Aziz and Abdul Rehman, Additional AG Khalid Mahboob and Section Officer Treasury Feroz Akhtar.—APP
