KARACHI, March 5: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the government is taking all steps for ensuring independence of judiciary and dispensation of justice and it is well aware of 21st century demands in this regard.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Malir Judicial Complex here on Monday, he said that attention was being paid to computerisation and automation of courts whereas the Sindh Judicial Academy had already started imparting training.
The governor said that new courts were being set up under the ‘Access to Justice’ programme, adding that the establishment of this complex was also a part of this programme.
Appreciating the beautifully designed building of the complex, he observed that funds had prudently been utilised in its construction. He congratulated the entire team of the high court which supervised the construction work.
Dr Ibad pointed out that basic objective of the programme was to provide maximum facilities to people in attaining justice.
On the occasion, he announced a grant of Rs1 million for the Malir Bar Association. He issued directive for processing the matter of the Association’s housing scheme, and assured its members of his full cooperation in this regard.
The governor directed the Malir Town nazim that an overhead bridge be constructed for pedestrians who faced it very difficult to cross the National Highway.
He also requested the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to increase the number of courts from 11 to 15.
The governor said that the government’s all effort were directed towards establishment of a justice-based society.
Chief Justice the Sindh High Court Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed, Justice Mushir Alam and General Secretary of the Malir Bar Association and Abdul Naeem Memon also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the governor inaugurated the Malir Judicial Complex by unveiling the plaque. He visited various floors of the building and examined the facilities made available there.—APP
