Federer lifts Dubai title
DUBAI, March 4: Roger Federer defeated unseeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday to win the Dubai Open.
It was his fourth Dubai title in five years and his 41st consecutive victory, stretching back to the beginning of the US Open in August.
Bjorn Borg, whose record of consecutive wins Federer equalled, was on hand to witness the occasion.
LAS VEGAS RESULTS:
Semi-finals: 2-Lleyton Hewitt (Australia) beat 3-Marat Safin (Russia) 7-5, 6-1; 4-Juergen Melzer (Austria) beat Evgeny Korolev (Russia) 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).—Reuters
