Malik Saad’s Chehlum

KOHAT, March 4: The Chehlum of slain Capital City Police Officer for Peshawar, Malik Saad, was held at the residence of his brother Malik Asad on Sunday.

People from all walks of life attended the chehlum and offered fateha after Quran Khwani.

Those present, including senior police and civil officers, politicians, military officers, friends and family members, paid rich tribute to his services for the people.

A large number of people also visited the grave of the slain police officer and laid floral wreaths.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed and another injured when an automatic gun was accidentally fired by a police constable in the main bazaar here on Saturday.

Police said that Constable Shehzad Mir was checking his weapon at the tehsil police post before going to his duty as guard at the National Savings Centre when he mistakenly pulled the trigger. As a result, one Hashim Khan was hit in his head and Sultan Mir received a bullet injury in his leg.

The city police have registered a case and arrested the constable. The deceased’s funeral was attended by senior police officials. District Police Officer Khalid Mahmood has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
