SWABI, March 4: Leaders of several political parties failed to attend a conference organised by the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf here

on Sunday to discuss problems faced by the people of Swabi district.

The organisers had invited local leaders affiliated with different political parties to the conference in order to formulate suggestions to resolve various problems. The agenda of the conference was to discuss the establishment of a university in the district, provision of Sui gas, failure of the government to start Shahmansoor Hospital Complex, exploitation of tobacco growers by tobacco-purchasing companies and Pesco overcharging electricity consumers.

However, leaders of the Awami National Party, the PPP, the Jamaat-i-Islami, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam(F), the PML(N) and PML(Q) did not attend the meeting.

The district nazim and councillors also failed to attend the conference.
